Week 7 at Internship

This week I had the pleasure of sitting down with Sara Owen the coordinator for ASU's internship program, this was a great opportunity for me because I got the chance to show her what fun and exciting task, projects and various opportunities I have had while doing my internship with the City of Chandler. After sitting down with her and my internship supervisor Sara C de Baca I took Sara O. on a tour of our downtown community center and chat with her some more about my duties and experience thus far. After meeting with Sara I spent the early evening at Chandler's Tennis Center, I sat down with the Tennis Center coordinator Erin Grinn and talked to her about her day to day responsibilities and what exactly she oversees while coordinating the tennis center. This gave me the opportunity to see first hand what other coordinators do outside of youth and teen programs. It did get my brain thinking of ways to integrate youth and teen programs at the various facilities and satellite recreation sites and work on was to combine those with the tennis center, exposing those youth and teens who would otherwise not have the opportunity to participate in tennis or visit the facility. Later that week on Thursday I assisted Courtney Hodge another recreation coordinator who over sees the downtown chandler community center youth programs (Apples to Zebras) and classes at the community center, she was putting on an annual end of the summer showcase called Evening With Kids held at Chandler Gilbert Community College. This event showcases all the Apples to Zebras classes from all the recreation centers in Chandler and the kids age ranging from 3-5 years old sing songs the learned and practiced through out the summer, moving up the age ladder to teen and youth tumbling and adult belly dancing. This was a fun and very cute evening I am so fortunate that Courtney had me assist her in making this event a successful one. Friday of this week I prepared myself to get sent to Anytown Camp for the week held in Prescott, AZ.
